New technology, new initiatives, constant changes- you feel like there is never enough time to keep up and learn all the things.

  • You give up evenings and weekends to try to find ways to make your classroom engaging and you know your lessons should be accessible but sometimes you just don’t know how.

  • You end up with lessons that are less than you want them to be and you are dealing with student behaviors instead of connecting with your class.

  • You are stuck in a cycle of “If I only had more time”, “If I could just learn this one tool”, “If there was just an easier way to do this”, maybe things could be better.

  • You have the vision of the teacher you want to be - confident, relaxed, smiling with her students, celebrating their successes, but you are beginning to think that dream is out of reach.

I believe you have the power to create an engaging and accessible classroom.

I found the entire workshop so valuable! Lots to share with my OTD students next spring and ideas to keep in mind as I teach adults who may also experience problems with memory, attention, or processing. Great resources!!!

Imagine walking into an organized classroom, feeling confident in your ability to use the tech you have planned for the day and knowing you have designed lessons that your students will get excited about.

You know your students have the tools they need to fully engage with your lessons, and you have a network of people who have your back if you need to try something new.

You’re relaxed and smiling, knowing that today you will have time to get to know your students, celebrate their successes, and be the teacher you set out to be.

When you become a member of the Disruptive Teaching community, you'll develop the skills and confidence to create an engaging classroom that provides your students with everything they need to be successful.

I’ve always believed that every child wakes up wanting to be successful and every teacher has the ability to help them reach this goal.

Starting out as a new special education teacher, I worked in a residential treatment facility where the students were not allowed internet access and technology was limited. Moving into the public school system a few years later, I was quickly overwhelmed with all of the options available.

There was always a new program, device or app that I was supposed to be learning, and it was hard to figure out how all of the time I was spending on these tools was going to directly impact my students.

After many wasted hours learning programs that never seemed to truly help my students find success, I realized I needed to dive deep into this world of technology to find out what really worked and why. I began attending every conference I could, joined ed-tech communities and began to develop simpler ways to learn about and use technology in the special education classroom.

So many new discoveries have changed the way I look at technology: a tool that allows a student to access books and content they could not have; an app to help a student calm down when they are too overwhelmed to speak, and techniques that free my time to spend with my students are just three examples.

I now have confidence in learning and using technology, and it has provided me the best gift I could imagine- watching my students reach their goals of success.  This amazing gift can be yours too!

You want to get back to the joy of teaching, confident in your abilities to have an engaging and accessible classroom.  And I can help.

On this site you will find articles, links, and videos to help you quickly learn tools and techniques that will make your classroom a better place to be.
